Marina Cabello del Castillo is a Spanish viola da gamba player based in Basel, Switzerland. Specializing in early music from the 16th to the 18th centuries, she has performed at important early music festivals throughout all Europe. David Santana wrote in Codalario music magazine: “Marina showed us an instrument as light as a violin but with a deeper timbre; a curious mix that only good performers of this instrument are able to achieve”.

Marina started to play the viola da gamba at the age of eight at CIM Padre Antonio Soler Conservatory with Jordi Comellas in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid, Spain, where she completed her music studies with an award. In 2013 she continued her viola da gamba and music studies with Paolo Pandolfo at the prestigious Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Basel, Switzerland, and graduated with a Bachelor of Viola da Gamba in 2016, a Master of Arts in Pedagogy in 2018 and a Master of Arts in Musical Performance in June 2020. Marina has also received master classes and attended courses with gamba players such as Vittorio Ghielmi, Wieland Kuijken, Marianne Muller, Guido Ballestracci, Rebeka Rusó, Fahmi Alqhai and Sara Ruiz.

Marina has been invited to play at important festivals such as the Festtage Alte Musik und Freunde Alte Musik in Basel, Switzerland; Festival de Musique Baroque d’Ambronay and Recontres Musicales in Vézelay in France; Festival Internacional de Arte Sacro and Fundación Juan March in Madrid,  Quincena Musical de San Sebastián or Festival Internacional de Santander in Spain; or Göttingen International Händel Festival and Musikestspiele Postdam Sanssouici in Germany.
